No accounts, analytics or adverts: the small amount of data this site handles, and your rights over it.
In short
No accounts, no sign-up forms, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party scripts. This site handles as little personal information as a website can.
Who is responsible
Northgate Media Ltd, 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom, publishes lanternby.com as Lanternby and is the data controller for the small amount of personal data described here. How to reach us is explained on our contact page.
If you write to us
We use your address and message only to reply, relying on our legitimate interest in answering you. Messages are deleted once the conversation is finished, unless we need to keep a record of a correction.
Server logs
Our hosting provider may keep short-lived technical logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested, to keep the site secure and working. They are not used to profile anyone and are deleted on a rolling basis.
On your device
We set no tracking or advertising cookies. Closing the cookie note saves one local preference. The lantern string, the Lanternkeeper’s suggestions, the session lantern and the lantern check run in your open tab only and store nothing.
Sharing
We never sell, rent or trade personal data, and share it only when the law requires us to.
Official game sites
Official-site buttons take you to other companies. Their own privacy notices apply there.
Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it and object to how it is used. We reply within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
The site is written for a general audience and does not knowingly collect data from children. A parent or carer can ask us to delete anything a child has sent us.
